What type of employment am I under?

It varies for all tutors. By default, you will be engaged under casual employment. Under casual employment, all tutors are classified as 'independent contractors' rather than 'employees'. For part-time or full-time employment, information will be shared during onboarding and tutors will be advised accordingly by our staff members. Employment type depends on how active you are within the organisation.

If I am put on trial, do I still get paid for my first lesson?

Yes! As long as you passed your trial session, the hours conducted will be included in the first-time payroll.

How do I qualify as a tutor?

To qualify as a tutor, you will have to go through all Tutor Onboarding Steps.

What if I fail my first trial lesson?

If you fail your first trial lesson with your appointed student, you will not be accepted into the community. Depending on the scenario, you may be given a second opportunity (To be evaluated case-to-case). The candidate who is unsuccessful in his/ her first trial, usually fail to complete one (or more) of the following items:
  1. Fail to create rapport with the student.
  2. Fail to come prepared for the lesson.
  3. Fail to deliver the lesson or unable to answer any questions being asked by the student during the lesson.

 What is an intro email?

An  Intro Email is an exchange of student contact details; a template for an introduction by the tutor (to student/s), as well as to place for scheduling details.

How long do I have once I received a student brief (or a new job)?

It’s first come, first serve! Student briefs are usually sent to multiple tutors who are aligned to task content — hand-picked by our technical officers. Once you received a student briefly, if you choose to accept the job, please do so at your earliest convenience to avoid any disappointment. The candidate who delays in responding back may find him/ herself losing tutoring opportunities. Usually within 1-4 hours the job will be taken.

When should I be sending the intro email to my student?

Once you receive “intro email” communication from us, please make first contact with your student within 12 hours. For the candidate who fails to do so, the job will expire, and the task will get reallocated.
